...fucking quiet. It's kind of depressing. :S

Looking through a pile of various game footage I've recorded over the years I stumbled onto this. Considering that I have been working on/posting a lot of concepts relating to the character it seems somewhat fitting.

I guess Conrad is a good test to see if a game with custom character creation will suit my needs, considering common elements to my "character design theory" include combat boots, big gloves and generally simple clothing. Soul Calibur V certainly passed the Conrad test.

I hope this video doesn't come off as self-indulgent. I had only picked Randy Orton as an opponent since I didn't have any other CAWs at the moment.

The only wrestling game I've ever purchased aside from the Kinnikuman games. Shame that THQ studio went down. :/

Forgot to update the last journal, but that kind of shows what I though about what Nintendo showcased. Ultimately a disappointing E3, as surprisingly not even the "smaller" companies had much to show.

Well, at least the E3 week released Inversion was quite enjoyable.

So just for the heck of it I will type up some thoughts on this year's E3. Mostly stuff I feel worth mentioning or have interest in.

Microsoft:

-Business as usual, they are showing what works for them I suppose. The majority of the time was spent talking about products unrelated to gaming in general, stuff I would have expected to see at CES or something. Though I admit I am not the audience for any of it.
-From the games shown none caught my interest. It all sort of felt like deja vu with stuff like Halo 4, Tomb Raider and CoD.
-I liked Splinter Cell: Conviction but I will admit I wasn't familiar with the franchise until then, and with that said I understand some of the pain stealth fans felt with the design choices in that game. Splinter Cell: Blacklist seems to dig deeper into that hole so much I felt a little bummed out.
-I don't care for South Park but Trey Parker and Matt Stone's appearance was the only thing lively about the whole conference. It was amusing.

EA:

-I sort of spaced out for the majority of this presentation. I was sort of hoping they would talk about Army of Two since I will admit I like that series. It isn't a big one so I didn't really expect it though, just hoped.
-Dead Space 3 reminded me of Lost Planet for some reason...
-I was fooled last year by Black Box's Need For Speed: The Run, which turned out to be a pretty shitty racing game in my opinion. But since I enjoyed Criterion's Hot Pursuit, Most Wanted sort of caught my attention. The thing is though, I prefer playing as the cop instead of the played-out Fast and Furious street racer.
-Sports, it has its audience.

Ubisoft:

-I will admit, I kind of missed Mr. Caffeine in comparison to the lady who was hosting this year (Who I believe showed up in 24...). A lot of weird fumbling of lines.
-I groaned at the whole ShootMania bit for specific reasons, thankfully they didn't play up on that "theme".
-Zombie U. Ehhhhhh zombies everybody, in the UK.
-Far Cry 3's first showing last year looked kind of ho-hum aside from that whole "Insanity" bit, but what they showed here looked kind of interesting. Not from a gameplay perspective however, just the visuals with the whole tripping out and the crazy TV stuff. I really dug all that.
-I don't like the visuals for Rayman: Legends at all. The gameplay however, looks just as satisfying as in Origins.
-Like several others Watch Dogs caught my attention with its paranoia fueled theme and presentation. What was shown seemed heavily scripted, but it was nice to see that for once a new IP was introduced with some form of gameplay as opposed to a cinematic trailer. Perhaps the only game that caught my attention at all so far.

Sony:

-I walked into this expecting a boring conference and that is exactly what I got, because that is how Sony handles themselves. It isn't a bad thing I suppose, very professional but boring, to me at least.
-God of War...because nothing can EVER, fucking, ENDS. (Same goes for Gears of War btw)
-I don't feel they are handling PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale with as much excitement as they should be. I like the idea of an other Smash Bros. styled fighter being created by someone with a different design mentality, so I would like to see this succeed but so far what they have shown doesn't look too exciting. Gameplay seems KO based like the Jump games, yet I still don't exactly see how you are supposed to tell when you are about to get KO'ed. Also, I don't like the whole 1 hit kill supers concept.
-When they first described Beyond: Two Souls I was imagining something where you get to play through the life of an individual. A human drama type deal. What they showed instead was far less interesting.
-Something about books, I wasn't really paying much attention here. The Move is still something Sony is banking on, huh.
-Last of Us seems like business as usual to me. Mutants (zombies), "The real monster is man" and a girl who looks a bit like Ellen Page.

And that is it for "Day 1" and whatnot.
I don't expect much from Nintendo but I bet they will at least have something interesting for those who like their main games.

Will update tomorrow.
